Stephanie Seymour Arrested For DUI:  In January, 2016 former Supermodel Stephanie Seymour was attempting to merge onto Interstate 95 in Connecticut.  She was stopped for the stop sign directing her to wait to enter I95 until traffic abated.  For some reason, Seymour placed her vehicle into reverse and backed into the vehicle behind her.  The police were summonsed and Seymour was investigated for DUI.  Seymour probably did not realize that once the police smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath she was going to be arrested for DUI.  People sometimes think that they can convince an officer not to arrest them by playing along with the Officer’s DUI Investigation.  Those fortunate souls are few and far between.  My guess is that more people with no drugs and alcohol in their systems whatsoever are arrested than people who seem to smell of alcohol are released.

Harrisonburg Reckless Driving Ticket:  Many people, including famous people, get charged with reckless driving.  In May of 2013, Rapper Chief Keef was stopped for driving around 110 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zoneChief Keef was rolling down Winnetka Road in Northfield, Illinois in his 2011 BMW X6 M automobile.  Chief Keef was also charged with having too many passengers due to being under the age of eighteen years.

Harrisonburg Reckless Driving Ticket:  Chief Keef was wise in that he did not argue his case on the roadside.  Police officers conducting traffic stops are very cognizant of the danger to themselves.  Sudden or aggressive movements may be interpreted as attempting to bring a weapon to bear on the officer.  On the video the Officers are very careful to secure Chief Keef.  The Officers also question Chief Keef about drugs or guns.  Many people think that they are required to give information against themselves.  That is not correct.  The United States Constitution guarantees people the right not to be forced to self incriminate and not be forced to make statements without a lawyer present.  It is, however, up to the individual to protect his or her rights.

Instead of answering the Officer’s questions which are all intended to build a criminal case against you, I suggest that you politely tell the Officer, “I want a Lawyer. If I am not under arrest please let me go.” If the Officer does not acknowledge your request and continues to question you, you should politely tell him, “I want a Lawyer.  If I am not under arrest please let me go.”  You should continue that response until the conversation ends.
